Copenhagen Denmark - URGENT - Police isolate capital during serious chase

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (Reuters) - A police chase on Friday forced Danish police to briefly cut off the island in the east of the country, seizing Copenhagen from the rest of the country as well as from Sweden and Germany.

Police in Copenhagen said three people in a Swedish-registered vehicle were being searched for, saying it was a "serious crime."

Swedish news media outlet Aftonbladet have described the situation as a "kidnapping drama"

Bridges were closed from New Zealand to Central Fein and Sweden for about two hours, and crossings to Germany and Sweden were stopped. The closure of these main crossings has caused a major traffic jam near the bridges to Sweden and the mainland.

Copenhagen police said on Twitter earlier that the bridges and main crossings had been reopened. 

Some television footage showed heavily armed police officers searching cars through the roadblocks near the Oresend Bridge to Sweden.

The Danish Channel 2 said a police helicopter was searching with police dog teams on the highway near Roskilde, 25 km west of Copenhagen, between the capital and the Sturbailt Bridge.
