The couple, who have known each other since high school, announced the news Monday via a shared statement on Instagram.
In the joint statement they wrote: "From love in our hearts we feel that the time has come to exchange some personal news with all of you." "After celebrating fourteen beautiful years together, we have wisely reached a decision to end the romantic side of our relationship."
"We are very proud of the life we cultivate together and we are truly grateful for the friendship we hold and cherish today," they continued. "Although we have chosen separation as a couple, we still love each other very much and remain a key part of the life of the other as the best friends, family and parents who love our daughter."
"There was no lie, no deceit, no fighting that pushed this change into an expansion of our individual development that inspired us to support each other in a new way," the statement said. "We are still, to a large extent, a loving family and have a deep and deeply rooted relationship in love."
