2 middle school girls waited in a bathroom and planned to cut up their classmates

Police in bartow , Florida, said they arrested two girls in middle school on Tuesday who brought butcher knives and a pizza cutter to school and told investigators t

hey were planning to kill 15 students with knives, and were waiting in the bathroom for the opportunity to find smaller kids that they could overpower to be their victims

"They told us they were worshiping Satan," police chief Bartov Joe Hall told a news conference on Wednesday. "They made confessions that they were ready to drink blood and eat meat."

The two suspects, aged 11 and 12, are in the sixth and seventh grades at the bartow Intermediate School. The Washington Post does not generally identify juvenile offenders unless they are tried as adults.

The police chief said there were rumors on Monday that there would be a "massacre" in junior high school, and a student told the teacher that something bad would happen. As a result, additional officers attended the school.

Both students were arrested and charged with conspiring to commit murder, possessing a weapon at school, and disrupting the school campus. Prosecutors will decide whether the girls will be officially treated as juveniles or adults. Girls are still in police custody. Polk County School District Director Jacqueline Baird said she would apply for dismissal.
