Why does the Netherlands intend to change its name?

The Dutch government decided to change the name of the country because of the "bad image," according to the portal «Adformatie».

As for the "bad image," the government said the current name is associated with the minds of tourists with drugs, and the neighborhood «Amsterdam» known as red lanterns.

The Dutch authorities added that the new name will not be announced now, if the name is actually changed.

According to historical references, the name «Netherlands» means «land of wood» or «land of forests».
