US Republican Party push for Biden’s son to testify in Trump impeachment probe

WASHINGTON — The US Republican party on Saturday demanded a probe to isolate President Donald Trump to summon Hunter Biden, son of the Democratic front-runner, to face him in the next presidential election to appear as a witness.

Trump has repeatedly accused Hunter Biden and his father Joe of corruption on the grounds that the son of the Democratic candidate took office on the board of Ukrainian oil company Borisma when he was the US vice president.

The chief Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, which is investigating Devin Nunes, revealed there were reports that Borisma had paid Hunter Biden $ 50,000 a month for membership on its board.

Knowing the actual tasks Hunter Biden carried out in Borisma would help the American people understand the nature and extent of corruption in Ukraine, Nunis wrote.

Trump has denied any wrongdoing by pressuring his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelinsky to open a graft investigation against Joe Biden and his son Hunter.

Hunter Biden's testimony would promote transparency in an opaque and unfair process, Nunes said.

Nunes also demanded that the informant, who was informed of the July telephone conversation between Trump and Zelensky, appear before the investigation as a witness.

The approval of Republican witnesses' requests requires the approval of Democrats, who form a majority in the House of Representatives, and the request for Hunter Biden and the informant is expected to be rejected.

Adam Schiff, chairman of the House of Representatives Intelligence Committee, said the committee would pay due attention to witnesses as part of the investigation to isolate the president.

But he vowed that the investigation would not be a means of conducting mock investigations against Joe Biden and his son ... like the one the president pressed Ukraine to do for personal political gain.

In the history of the United States, only two presidents have been sacked, so if Democrats achieve their goal, Trump will become the third US president to be sacked.

Trump has called his telephone conversation with Zelensky ideal, although the White House report appears to support the charges against him.

In their testimony to investigative committees, more than a dozen witnesses have so far confirmed the accusations made by Democrats, including withholding US military assistance from Ukraine and linking it to the opening of an investigation against Joe Biden and his son Hunter.

All the hearings of the commissions of inquiry were closed but will be held next week in public.
