Ohio Chillicothe Prison, guards and prisoners treated because of possible overdoses

The Ohio authorities said at least 24 guards, a prisoner and Chilico Ohio, were taken to hospital on Wednesday after being exposed to unknown content.


The injured were taken to Adina Regional Medical Center for treatment and 12 were injected with Narakan, a drug used to reverse the effects of the overdose of opium.

Authorities said the first call was at 9 am and indicated that 15 of the prison staff and five nurses were among those injured.


A police spokesman Lt. Robert Sellers said the patrol provided 300 doses of Naloxone available if needed.

Naloxone is a drug used to control excess doses caused by opiates such as heroin. The prison south of Columbus.

Robert said that the fentanyl material smuggled, is a strong industrial opioid, and may be in the air and that investigators are still trying to determine what happened.

Police said the facility was safe and there was no danger to the public near the prison.
