Mexico announces discovery of largest oil field since 1987
The Mexican authorities have announced the discovery of a large oil field, the largest find in the country since 1987.
The field on land in the coastal state of Tabasco, on the Gulf of Mexico, contains proven, potential, and potential needs of 1 million barrels of ore equivalent. According to Octavio Romero, president of the state-owned oil company Petroleos Mexicano, "the first well was drilled in Kiske in June, producing 4,500 barrels per day."

The area of the field is 34 km and contains 11 wells. It is scheduled to produce 69 thousand barrels per day in the year 2020, 110 thousand barrels of oil and 410 million cubic feet of natural gas per day in the year 2021.
