Biden to sign executive orders to combat Covid-19
The US President said: “He launched a special program for the vaccination campaign against the Corona virus, indicating that his strategy aims to distribute 100 million doses of the vaccine in the first hundred days of his administration.”
He pointed out that the executive orders aim to increase vaccination and tests, lay the foundations for the reopening of schools and companies, as well as address inequality in health care, stressing that he will do what is necessary to reopen schools and businesses again, with the need to ensure the safety of their workers.
He also announced his intention to open thousands of vaccination centers, to accelerate the vaccination campaign against Covid-19 in the United States, calling for combating disinformation campaigns against taking the Corona vaccine.
Although the executive orders do not require congressional approval, much of the funding for the planned actions is in the massive $ 1.9 trillion stimulus package Biden announced last week.
It will need cooperation from the Senate and House of Representatives for the package to go smoothly.
The goal is to safely reopen most schools within 100 days, and set up vaccination centers in community stadiums and facilities.
International travelers will need to test a negative before departing to the United States and self-quarantine for 14 days upon arrival.
In addition to the rules already announced about wearing masks and social distancing on all federal government property, face coverings will become mandatory at airports and on many airplanes, trains and buses.
There will be more funding for government and local officials to help tackle the pandemic, and a new office will be set up to coordinate the national response.
The Defense Production Act will be used to accelerate the production of personal protective equipment and essential supplies needed to produce the vaccine. Trump used the same legislation to force production of the items in short supply last year.
