Ana Maria Archila & Maria Gallagher Survivors of sexual assault face Arizona Senator Jeff Flake, inside the Senate elevator. The confrontation was on Friday morning September 28, shortly after the senator said that he would in favor for Judge Brett Cavanaugh in the Senate chamber.

Reporters swarmed around as Mr. Flake was waiting in the elevator, but the two women stopped and asked him to listen.

Maria Archila I said that because I realized in the story of Dr. Ford that she says the truth is what you do is allow a person who actually violated a woman sit in the Supreme Court that is unacceptable to you children in your family. Think about them.

While Gallagher said "I was sexually assaulted and nobody believed me. I did not tell anyone, and I told all the women that they did not matter" Gallagher then chastised Flake, when she felt he was turning away saying "Don’t look away from me. Look at me and tell me that it doesn’t matter what happened to me, that you will let people like that go into the highest court of the land and tell everyone what they can do to their bodies".

Flake responded with a meek Thank you" and the women kept pressing for answers, telling Flake that thank you is not an adequate response.

An article on Northeastern’s website mentions that Gallagher survived a school shooting. Prior to attending Northeastern, Gallagher had been a student at Purdue University in Indiana. In January 2014, Cody Cousins shot-and-killed teaching assistant Andrew Boldt “because he wanted to.”
