7 people killed, several injured in shooting at Pittsburgh synagogue
PITTSBURGH - Police from around the city of Pittsburgh respond to an active shooting situation in the Tree of Life Synagogue at Squirrel Hill.
Police asked residents to stay indoors where they exchanged fire with a suspected gunman.
The Pittsburgh Public Safety Department tweeted that the "active shooter" had been reported and advised people to avoid the area.

When the police arrived, the gunmen fired at them, forcing the officers to use their vehicles as a shield.
Two police officers were reportedly shot.
It was reported that the synagogue was full of people to serve on Saturday and police said they had received several calls from people trapped inside the synagogue.
Many people have been rescued, but police are still trying to save others.
Mayor Bill Peduto rushed to the scene.
